Il The Virunga National Park is the first African national park. It was created over 85 years in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Virunga National Park is home to exceptional biodiversity, including more than a quarter of the world population of mountain gorillas, a critically endangered specie.
Because of its incomparable value, in 1979 the Virunga National Park was declared World Heritage by UNESCO.
Today, this irreplaceable habitat is threatened by oil exploration projects by European companies such as SOCO, Ophir and TOTAL ...
WWF urges these companies to publicly pledge to never enter within the current boundaries of the Virunga Park or any other World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
TAKE ACTION to protect the Virunga National Park from oil exploration
