After the huge forest fires in Russia, forests are also burning in Golan Heights. One hundred acres of forest burned over the weekend, bringing the total number of acres burned this year across Israel to 5,500. Thousands of acres of natural forest and woodlands have already burned this year. Yoram Levy of the Israel Fire and Rescue Services told the cause for the fires is a combination of deliberate fires and negligence. The majority of the damages were at the Golan Heights and at the forests surrounding the area.
