Famous names have backed a campaign to stop the Government selling off the country's publicly owned forests.
Dozens of well-known people have signed a letter claiming that the sale - which would include 86,000 acres managed in Dorset and Hampshire - would be "misjudged and short-sighted".
The government intends to sell the entire 635,000-acre Forestry Commission estate in an attempt to raise around £ 2 billion.
That includes the New Forest, Ringwood Forest, Wareham Forest and Shillingstone Forest.
Celebrities involved include Anneie Lennox a Judy Dench, da Julian Barnes a Vivienne Westwood, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Tracey Emin, Lily Cole, Gillian Anderson, Dame Joan Bakewell and Richard E Grant.
